Self-control leads to a happier life

The View

Often times when the idea of self-control comes to mind it is not always associated with the thought of it being very exciting.

This is because when it comes to self-discipline such as exercise, dieting, or even excluding certain items or people that may bring excitement into our lives, we are fixed on how difficult it can be to achieve a set goal.

Even those who are self-disciplined tend to get a bad rap being called the party pooper or even being accused of draining the life from any occasion.

However being self-controlled is actually based more on the pursuit of happiness.

Many people who see their need of a change whether that be eating right, or hanging with the right people see the need for self-control because it boosts a more positive attitude and in the long run can have a better consequence.

We love the thought of being self-controlled, going the extra mile to be happy but yet we put it off or are even hesitant to it for fear of being ridiculed.

You hear of many who are left feeling guilty and in regret for eating that sugar cookie, spending way too much, or left without much thought of their actions because they had too much to drink.

Not only do we hurt ourselves but can also lead to the potential of even causing strife in the lives of others.

Even as a nation we have seen the debt that must be paid for spending more than we have which will consequently fall onto the generations to come.

Instead of storing up for the now we should invest in the future because ultimately being self-controlled can lead to a more happy life.

It is better to save ourselves some pain rather than live with the regret later
