Henry Fleenor Special for the Legend

There is a trend in video gaming that probably goes unnoticed, but there is an avalanche of amazing games every year has its but there is a noticeable step up every three years starting from 1998.
Gamers are swamped with a plethora of marvelous games and franchises that make gamers feel more spoiled than Cinderella at the ball. For the mathematicians out there, you may have figured out that 2010 would be the next magical year to follow the trend, and you would be right.
In 1998, the arrival of classics such as: Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Starcraft, along with a couple cult classics like: Grim Fandango, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Three years later in 2001, we were doused with another tsunami of iconic titles: Halo: Combat Evolved, Grand Theft Auto 3 and Phantasy Star Online. Each revolutionized the genre in which they were categorized. Ninja Gaiden, World of Warcraft, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Half Life 2 debued in 2004 as the biggest to hit our controllers and keyboards. Unleashed in 2007 was Modern Warfare, Bioshock, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy and God of War II.
All the games mentioned have critical acclaim and anyone that plays games will recognize these as the “cream of the crop” in terms of must-play games.
2010 is the next year to hold the crown, and with February partly under our belts we already have a handful of great games. There’s breathtaking line up down the road with high scoring games like Bayonetta, Mass Effect 2 and Darksiders already in the back-burner.
A phenomenal way to start the year off with already five amazing games to choose from, all of which would-be contenders for “Game of the Year”.
More often than not, these kinds of blockbusters would be held off until the holiday season to make it onto every gamers’ wish-list, but this is just the beginning. Later games to look forward to include Bioshock 2, Aliens vs. Predator, Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, Final Fantasy XIII and Metroid: Other M, just to name a few of what’s been announced.
Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is just around the corner, and that’s bound to produce even more hysteria with the games that will be revealed and set to release later this year. God save our wallets!
