Super Bowl offers many fun options even for the casual fan

Super Bowl XLVIII will be played on Feb. 2 at 4:25 p.m. and an estimated 108 million people will be watching.

Last year’s Super Bowl was the most watched television event in history according to Nielsen.

People who may not even be hardcore football fans still plan on either attending a Super Bowl party or just watching at home.

With that being said, the highlight of many Super Bowl parties is the food and beverage.

Some people order take-out, some people grill before kickoff, and even others have a potluck style party where those invited all bring something to chip in.

If you find yourself unsure about what to bring, the classics like pizza, chicken wings, hamburgers/ cheeseburgers and hot dogs/ bratwurst seem to be the staples.

Snacks like chips and salsa, pretzels, veggie/ fruit platters are nice sides for your plate as well.

Whether your choice of beverage is for adults or for minors, the fact is they are musts.

Some good hosts will have variety, but good guests would be thanked for showing up B.Y.O.B.

None of these are concrete rules, but it is good to check with your host what will be provided, and what would be necessary to bring over.

This is the more traditional way of celebrating the biggest football game of the year, but some people may just be happier staying home and doing something small, or even just attending the local watering hole for what is offered there.

Sports bars and casual restaurants are getting in on the service of throwing a Super Bowl party.

Food and drink specials, prize giveaways, and even football bingo create a more interactive experience for patrons.

Some of these establishments will charge for admission, whereas others will not.

One does not make for a better party over the other, but check with the management to get details on their particular event and perks that come with spending your money there.

For the rest who like to do their own hosting or even just keeping it low key at home, just keep it simple and have the things you enjoy the most for your Super Bowl.

The idea is that football is America’s favorite sport, and for the many who do not even care for sports as a whole, the Super Bowl is still something people find a way to get involved in one way or another.

Some people just like watching the broadcast for the commercials that corporations spend millions of dollars for advertising trying to showcase a product (mostly in a comedic way).

Others enjoy checking out the halftime show, which in 2014 is featuring singer Bruno Mars, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

However you may be participating, just enjoy the show, food, company, and maybe even the game.
