Thunderbird football finishes season strong

The Mesa football team played Pima CC in the last game of the season, and made the most of it.
After a dissapointing season, Mesa responded by demolishing Pima, 51-14.
Freshman offensive lineman, #70 John Jordan, reflected on the season when he said, “We practiced well all year but just couldn’t find chemistry in the games.”
Mesa threw all of that out the window against Pima though. With nothing to lose, they played with reckless abandon.
Mesa scored more points againts Pima than it had all year.
The offense found a groove early, and didn’t let up the entire game.
A heavy attack through the air from sophomore quarterback, Taylor Perkins, was too much for Pima’s defense to handle.
It was important for the team to battle hard after a heartbreaking defeat the prior week during homecoming.
This game gives the returning players something possitive to look back on.
The team finished the year 2-8. The season wasn’t as successful as they had hoped, but this game showed just how well they could play if everything came together for a complete game.
Jordan later added, “We are ashamed of our record and feel we should have won more of the games that were close. About half the team is returning next year though, which gives us a lot of hope for next year.”
A number of key players have expended their eligibilty at Mesa and will have to either transfer to a University or retire the pads.
Despite this though, Mesa returns a number of freshman that are primed to make a big impact on the field next year.
With hard work in the offseason, Mesa hopes to build on this victory and improve before next year.
