Bars, ski slopes, sandy beaches await spring break students

With MCC’s spring break scheduled for March 14 thru 18; many students still haven’t decided how they are spending their free time. Some of the most common locations for relaxation within the Arizona border include Lake Havasu in the western part of the state and Snowbowl in Flagstaff.

The Snowbowl ski resort, which is also slightly less a two-hour drive away from the Grand Canyon, offers rates that range from $49 for a entire day and $41 to $34 for a half day pass. Snowboards and ski rentals vary from $25 to $35.

Lake Havasu City, which is known for its fishing and boating, is home to the old London Bridge.

The town will be holding special shows events like the Lake Havasu Mardi Gras, outdoor movies in the park, 4X4 desert run, the national bass fishing tournament, and the world MX ATV motocross during MCC’s spring break.

The city also features numerous beaches and parks.

Students who don’t have the money to travel may find themselves visiting the bars in Tempe’s Mill Avenue district or exploring Mesa’s downtown shopping and art district.

Downtown Mesa has a 36-piece sculpture program that sprawls mostly across Main Street, more than 30 dining establishments, and three museums.

Mill Avenue will be hosting the St. Patrick’s Day Bash with Flogging Molly at the Tempe Beach Park on March 17. Tickets are $35.
