When Kurt Cobain died back in April of 1994 everyone instantly ruled his death as suicide. Many found suicide as the number one answer on the count of his music lyrics being very depressing and eerie. But close family and friends of the late rock star think very differently, many close friends who were interviewed after his death claim and swear that his lyrics did not define him. That Kurt was actually a very happy person then what the media portrayed him to be. Many fans to this day still cannot let go of Cobain’s sudden death at the age of 27, that he still had many more things to do in his life. Till this day many still question if his death was indeed a suicide or if something way more sinister was behind Cobain’s untimely death.
‘Soaked in Bleach’ is a movie that was released back in early 2015, that gives fans and viewers who would like a better understanding of Cobain’s sudden death. Everyone can quickly assume that Kurt’s death was the cause of suicide but, ‘Soaked in Bleach’ touches key points in his death investigation that many fans were unaware of at the time of his death. The movie focuses on a factor that many might have not ever thought about before, his ex wife Courtney Love. ‘Soaked in Bleach’ reveals private investigator Tom Grant’s duties hired by Courtney Love to undergo a possible disappearance of Kurt Cobain days before his death occurred. In this movie there is actual voice records of Courtney Love speaking with private investigator Tom Grant, and as the movie progresses you truly get down to the bottom of what Kurt and Courtney’s love life was really like.
As the movie progresses viewers get to understand more of how Kurt thought, and what he was feeling days before his death. Before Kurt’s death he checked himself into rehab and later eventually discharged himself. During that time in rehab it is said that Courtney had zero contact with Kurt that he did not want to be contacted by her which later led Courtney to hire Tom Grant to do an undercover search for Cobain. But as Tom Grant dug deeper into Courtney and Kurt’s past love life together, things started to not add up for the private investigator. As viewers get to the end of the movie it is said that Kurt’s death was ruled out way too quickly and was determined by a sheriff and not a proper medical examiner. Medical examiners and retired police they had interviewed for the film strongly believe this case needs to be reopened since evidence did not add up.
The evidence that the retired police officers say did not add up was the fact that Cobain had a unreasonable amount of heroin in his system that there would be no way he could of pulled the trigger on his own. Along with the evidence of the suicide note that was left, the interviewers said that the handwriting on the note was possibly forged and it did not look similar to Cobain’s handwriting. After this movie was made controversy with Courtney Love came to heads, with her not wanting this film to be released to the public. With her possibly treating to sue anyone who was willing to release this film. To this date no legal actions have been taken. This movie is truly a real eye opener and gives a different look at the sudden death of Kurt Cobain. ‘Soaked in Bleach’ will help fans and viewers everywhere decide for themselves if Kurt Cobain death was indeed a suicide or was it something more.
