Letter to the editor: Reader defends ‘tasteful’ cover
Norman Woolsey
The letters you printed from those upset by your Oct. 2 cover are laughable and ridiculous.
To the Legend staff: I applaud your editor for printing a suggestive, provocative and progressive cover. If not for those themes, in addition to others, journalism would have died long ago.
Furthermore, I believe it supports the way the breast cancer awareness movement has evolved: women’s pride and empowerment have been productively and necessarily integrated over the years.
To the authors of said letters, (of whom, probably not coincidentally, 70 percent are males): get real. You are not subscribers to The Mesa Legend. If you don’t approve of it, don’t read it.
The models made the choice to expose their bodies. Sadly for you, that’s not your choice to make.
If you struggle with values, ideas, and morals contrary to your own, college is going to be rough for you.
Brace yourselves. I’d also suggest paying less attention to the covers of free campus publications, and focusing more on your grammar studies.
